Aidan Sadeghian49 days agoHad an amazing experience with the technician Brendan (Tech #47) today, he was extremely thorough and respectful. We had an issue with our toilet leaking water down near the base and had already had one technician come out and look at it/replace the wax ring and attempt to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the previous technician was not able to identify the issue and left without any reconciliation. This time around however, Brendan showed up while we weren’t home and was able to quickly identify the underlying issue and fix all the problems. He found out what had initially caused the water leak which turned out to be some cracked pipes within the wall! On top of that he replaced all necessary parts with the “better” alternative and brought our plumbing back to its functional state. Brendan was an extremely respectful and easy going gentleman and we are glad that he was as the one dispatched to our call…. Would definitely recommend this technician, Brendan (Tech #47), to anyone looking for a thoughtful and thorough plumber with plenty of experience to deal with any problems you may face! Hope Henderson143 days agoOn 3/26, my kitchen sink line was not draining and my washing machine line started backing up as well. I called Preferred Plumbing & Drain and they sent out a technician the same day. My kitchen line was so backed up that the snake broke in my kitchen line. They sent another technician out to assist. They pulled the cable out very quickly. They went to the backyard clean out and as soon as they removed the cap it overflowed. They cleaned everything up, cleared the line and cleaned up the overflow mess. They were even telling my curious daughter what they were doing as well, it was very professional and thoughtful. On top of that, they fixed my water pressure in my kitchen as it was super low ever since my water heater was changed out by my neighbor. I was scared I was going to have to replace my garbage disposal as it was not assisting in the drainage of the water. John Sechrist138 days agoAfter extreme weather in April, 6 units suffered sewer trouble. I called Preferred, and as usual, my call was received by a human being around 10am Sunday April 12th. The dispatcher said a drain tech would be coming from Placerville and would be there around 12-1pm. Amari tech #83, arrived early, around 11-11:30am. He proceeded to hydro-jet and snake our cleanouts for the next 12 hours without any success. The next morning, Amari and Corben tech#96 showed up and proceeded to snake for what was another 12 hours , adding 3 -80 foot baskets to the machine from multiple cleanouts with no success. Around 5pm a high level tech, Josh #84 was sent to help. After more extreme snake work, around 10 pm, they finally seemed to hit something. This was so difficult, it took two tech's pulling on the cable at once to get it to to move 2 feet. The tech's took turns two at a time with vice grips locked on the cable for added grip. It was getting late, so they planned to return again in the morning. I have never seen men so dedicated to their profession and to resolving what was turning into a nightmare for our residents. Finally, on the third day the blockage was cleared. My hats off to the new property hero's at Preferred Plumbing and Drain. They also handled frustrated residents beautifully! Despite the problems our residents forced on them, they always remained polite, respectful, and non-confrontational. Always responding "we are doing all we can. We just want to get this finished". However, they called back a few minutes later and said one of their techs, Brenden, was free to come out within the hour. Fantastic! Brendan was knowledgeable, cleaned out the sink drain, and took the time to explain what he did to clear the drain and what to do to try and prevent future plugs. The Technician, Freddie arrived as scheduled. He identified himself and stated the nature of the repair order. Freddie was very knowledgeable, professional, respectful and mindful of my property. Once he determined and confirmed the issue, he communicated to me approximately how long the repair would take and exactly what he needed to do. Freddie thoroughly resolved the issue preventing future issues regarding the service call. Freddie provided a complete cleanup of his work. The Technician, Dajahn #87, was very professional looking and was very knowledgeable of what was going on with the drain. This is the second time he has come to our office for different issues and both times he was outstanding. Sheila473 days agoI want to give 10 stars to Anthony (Tech 07) for an outstanding job! I had an urgent plumbing issue on Sunday and within 1 hour of reporting the problem Anthony was at my home. Extremely respectful of my home, very professional and thorough. Not only did he clear my lines, but he was determined to snake my entire piping to determine the "root" cause (**smiles**) and located roots growing inside of my pipes which was causing the blockage. Betsy739 days agoWe are happy with Preferred Plumbing and have used them multiple times in the last several years. We have had toilets overflow, sewage pipes back up, water heater pipe issues, etc. They have great management, good customer service, and excellent plumbers/technicians. If there is an issue or concern, management is quick to rectify and they warranty their service. Their rates are definitely reasonable. Most recently, we had a water heater pipe leak. It was repaired, but did not seal properly. Rod, with Preferred Plumbing came out and redid the pipes efficiently and thoroughly and at no charge. He was great to work with. Aprile Deneau783 days agoLifesavers I had a broken water spigot at one of my units in a triplex . Had to shut water off to 2 units to repair. Originally wasn’t able to get Preferred Plumbing out here cause they were booked. I called 10 other plumbers . One of which cancelled last min cause they “ Didn’t service our area.” Really then why did you set the appt. ? Anyhow , while in the midst of panic cause I had an angry tenant , rightfully so, who calls but Michael from Preferred Plumbing . He talked to me last night and remembered he talked to me and called to say they could have someone here in a timely manner and he sent his guys out . How nice. He didn’t have to do that but went above and beyond to call me and get my issue taken care of . And he remembered me. That’s amazing customer service. Brooklyn Hudson877 days agoAre water heaters on some diabolical timer, set to self-destruct on weekends, holidays, and after midnight, only? Thank heavens for Preferred Plumbing & Drain! My water heater quit on me, leaving me with a flood on a Sunday morning. I panicked knowing I wouldn't be able to get someone to come quickly on the weekend and if I did, the cost would be triple the usual cost. For the most part I was correct, but then I found Preferred Plumbing & Drain. They were at my house in under an hour and my new water heater was installed and running before lunch. They were friendly, neat, and efficient. Compared to other quotes (from companies who were too booked to come out on a Sunday), I found them to be equal or more affordable. Paul Bondick892 days agoI live in a space that is managed by a property management group, and in an emergency, it can be challenging to get same day service. Our kitchen sink was backup from the upstairs toilet, and this happened in the afternoon, so I quickly notified the property management company. They needed to do their thing, then finally after a bit of waiting on the property company, I was told the tech would arrive between 6:30-7:30pm, and that was no problem. Genesis was my tech, and he was awesome, he stayed well into the evening troubleshooting, and snaking the line very well. The backup wouldn't clear, so then he went into the crawl space to make sure all options were explored to resolve the backup. He found the secondary cleanout and came up with the plan to return the next day to better clear the line. the job is now complete and was well executed, i can use the kitchen sink again. He is a very good tech that thinks about all the possibilities to resolve an issue. I'm not sure which location dispatched Genesis, however there lucky to have him. He did an excellent job! He is very professional, came on time, updated me when he was out buying the new water heater. Not just that, he did a fantastic job, he also installed an additional leakage proof equipment. I am so happy with the job he did. And also cleaned up well afterwards. A very neat job and a very reliable plumber Michael is. And very knowledgeable too, which helps a lot. And he didn’t insist on installing a new heater, like other plumbers push you to do, although my previous heater was more than 20 years old. He let me take my time and decide myself. Tracy Recio1319 days agoI very highly recommend this company! I recently bought a home in the Sacramento area and my plumbing/sewage had a backup effecting my kitchen sink, tub, and toilet. I called Preferred Plumbing at around 8 p.m. and they were very friendly, professional, and the person who answered the phone was very knowledgable in answering my questions. I went ahead and scheduled for someone to come out to take a look, but when I called back for an ETA about a half hour later, it was a little longer than I thought I could wait because I had to #1. So, I made the mistake of cancelling my appointment with them because I called a bigger (not better) company that was able to give me a smaller window between 10-12, well, after trying to contact them several times after 12 a.m., they finally called me back at 12:30 a.m. and said they needed to reschedule. I was so livid because I waited all that time (still having to go #1) when I could've just waited my turn with this company. I called Preferred back and spoke to Bryan again and he informed me that their next appointment was now at 9 a.m. and he asked me if I would like to schedule the appointment. I told him there was no way I could wait because I only had one bathroom and at this point I was about to burst. Haha! He apologized and I thanked him and we hung up. Not even 2 minutes later, my phone is ringing and it's Bryan (my savior has come to my rescue) He says that he has a tech in the area and they had a cancellation (in my heart, I believe they made special arrangements for me) and they would have someone over shortly. Anthony was the technician that showed up shortly after to rescue my night (and my bladder) Haha! Anthony was very professional and knowledgable. Colleen (#9) was our service tech showed up in 20 minutes and she was very courteous, professional and through. She cleaned the line first - then still saw an issue with disposal and cleaned the peatrap and plumbing - got everything clean and running again. Mom was given the senior discount. Carol Behnken McHugh1843 days agoI have used Preferred Plumbing and Drain for several years. I've always found them to be responsive, professional, and reasonably priced. Though it took 3 days rather than a few hours to see a tech this time, I had to concede that my toilet issue wasn't as important as emergency sewer problems and, apparently, the company is low on techs. My only real complaint here was the lack of communication. When "windows of expected arrival" came and went, hours went by before I got a call about why and when to expect a tech later. I even called a few times rather than wait for them to contact me, which was unusual for my experience with the company. When Tony (#74) was finally able to make it out, it was 7:20PM. It seemed he hadn't been told what my issue was, which I was very clear on when I made the appt, so he immediately had to go out to The Home Depot and then Lowe's to get a new flush assembly. Ultimately, the work was done by 9:20PM and I wasn't charged for the time on the road to get the necessary part. Tony was very personable and did a great job, willingly answering my questions when I would go in to check on his status. (I like to learn so I can do similar work myself next time.) I will always call Preferred Plumbing and Drain in North Highlands before any other plumbing company for any plumbing problems and I highly recommend them.Posted on Google

Laura Gaytan2086 days agoI am so impressed. Last night around 9pm I called as we had an emergency. Our plumbing was backed up. Toilets not flushing and dirty water coming into tub. I called and they had someone at my home within 2 hrs. The price was very reasonable too considering it was after hours (they didn't charge an after hours fee, just regular hourly rates). They fixed the clog and drains were working again within 1 hr of them arriving. I have already given their info to my friends and family and I will contact them for future repairs.Posted on Google

Patrick Malone2769 days agoOnce again I was faced with a sewer system that simply would not behave, and I needed someone who would come ASAP and get the job done without ripping me off. I'm glad I called these folks! It turns out I needed a huge job; my entire sewer pipe needed to be replaced. The house I purchased 6 months earlier wasn't up to code at all! These guys went a long way to get the job done right, digging under a wall to lay the new pipe! It was a big, messy job and they got it done and never left me without the ability to use the bathroom or shower when I needed it! The technicians were very nice and got the job done quickly, all while giving me a good price. And they followed up every day to make sure I was informed about what was happening with the job. It really saved Christmas for us! I am endlessly thankful to Marcos R for coming out in the middle of the holiday. Marcos was polite, professional, punctual, and tremendously helpful. Victoria Tam2809 days agoAsk for Reggie for a morning appointment, and you will do just great with Preferred Plumbing. The first plumber who came out is very young and made multiple errors on two larger jobs. He did stop a loud sound from the pipes by changing out the kitchen sink, but he accidentally wrapped the hose to the pull out faucet around a pipe so that it could not extend all the way. Also, the first plumber (very young) didn't stop the dripping in the bathroom because he changed out the shower head instead of the handle for the water. He also forgot to turn back on the hot water for the dishwasher, so I had no dishwasher for Christmas Eve and Christmas day (very hard). The second plumber Reggie was very knowledgeable and fixed all the problems that the fist plumber left, with no extra labor charge because I spoke to someone at dispatch. I would have given Preferred Plumbing a 5 star rating if Reggie had come out in the fist place. The younger plumber, who will remain nameless, will learn to be a better plumber with time and training. The call was very late because the previous job went long, so he was tiered. Don't expect the appointment to start in time, unless you have a morning appointment. Ask for Reggie in the morning and you will be a very happy customer!Posted on Google

Taylor Ladson2833 days agoJust to give a little back story to our issue: Awhile back we had a clog issue that caused water to backup into the toilets and showers in our downstairs. It was a Sunday evening I believe and the company that came out to help said they fixed the problem, however, the issue came up again the next day. The same company sent out the same person and they struggled finding any clog in our pipes that would be causing an issue. Whatever they did it worked for sometime, but last night it reared it's ugly head again and after plunging for over 30 minutes we broke down and decided to call a plumber to come out the next day, which is now today. Today is a Sunday, so anyone working today is greatly appreciated obviously but the man, named Karl (Walden is the last name I think), that came out today was exactly what we needed. He found a huge clog at a location in our pipes that the previous person had stated there was a turn in the pipe that couldn't be pushed through. Karl not only cleared this clog but also fixed a pipe in our toilet that was broken and had been leaking into a bucket behind the toilet for sometime now. He went above and beyond our expectations in regards to quality of labor. He did all this while still being friendly and kind to my whole family, who can be a little nosey sometimes (lol) and had all the patience in the world when explaining his work and what was going on. I will happily refer this company (and specifically Karl) to anyone looking for a trustworthy and knowledgeable plumber, whether it's an emergency or just a general issue. Thank you!Posted on Google

They sent service person Tom and he arrived and within the hour as promised. The tech was able to cable my laundry line thoroughly. He tested all the lines to make sure everything ran correctly. Suzanne Agol3255 days agoI received a call from my neighbor that water was running from my backyard out into the street. I called Preferred Plumbing and Drain. The service person arrived and within minutes had the water turned off. He determined that my dogs playing tug of war with the garden hose, had ripped the plumbing off the side of the house. In about 2 1/2 hours, the plumber not only had the plumbing repaired and the water back on to the house, but had also made friends with both of my dogs. Hope H.145 days agoOn 3/26, my kitchen sink line was not draining and my washing machine line started backing up as well. I called Preferred Plumbing & Drain and they sent out a technician the same day. My kitchen line was so backed up that the snake broke in my kitchen line. They sent another technician out to assist. They pulled the cable out very quickly. They went to the backyard clean out and as soon as they removed the cap it overflowed. They cleaned everything up, cleared the line and cleaned up the overflow mess. They were even telling my curious daughter what they were doing as well, it was very professional and thoughtful. On top of that, they fixed my water pressure in my kitchen as it was super low ever since my water heater was changed out by my neighbor. J A.886 days agoSo thankful for Preferred Plumbing and Drain. My 4 yr old son had watched a YouTube video of kids flushing items down the toilet and managed to clog 2 toilets! After a couple days of trying to unclog it ourselves and no signs of improvement, we decided to call these guys at 8pm. They sent out Anthony 78 who came about an hour later. Very nice guy. He made an assessment and let us know that he would have to come back the next day with all the proper equipment. The next day, Anthony and an apprentice came and worked on both bathrooms for a little over 4 hours and fixed EVERYTHING way better than before! I called Preferred Plumbing and Drain and they sent someone out within a couple of hours. The plumber that came out was able to clear the drain quickly. He was very friendly and explained everything he was doing. I was impressed with how he was very thorough with cleaning all of the areas he worked in. He was able to complete the kob in one hourwhich made me feel that he was conscientious of the time and did not try to spread out the work to make it an extra hour. I filled out an online request and within less than an hour they were at my door. Stephen 5 was extremely professional and explained everything every step of the way. He didn't leave a mess like some ithers have done in the past. He also noticed a leaking faucet in my front yard and was able to quickly fix that. Nigel N.4384 days agoI had an issue with a leaking pipe in my kitchen sink back in July and called Preferred Plumbing & Drain to see whether they could fix the issue. They sent a plumber over to do an assessment and said only one of the pipes needs to be replaced. He didn't have the part but did go to a hardware store to get it. He replaced the old pipe and, since then, it's been working perfectly fine. The cost of labor and the replacement part amounted to $200.00. My only complaint is they charge a $10.00 administrative fee before you even start. And they charged $20.00 fee for gas even though their company is literally just around the corner. Craig S.153 days agoWe recently had a clogged toilet, which turned out to be a clogged sewer line affecting the toilet, the shower and a sink. I called preferred Plumbing at 9:50 in the morning, and by 11:15 Michael (#79) was at our door. Very nice and polite gentleman. He did some checking, explained what he needed to do, and by noon, was writing up the bill. Michael was very organized and efficient, and cleaned up when finished. After a little investigation, we learned that someone had completely removed our backflow, crippling our main office bldg. This was a first for me, and I needed to rectify the situation as quick as possible. Called the company that monitors our fire suppression system,to see if they could help...no they couldn't, tried another plumbing company,to which they gave me a bunch of excuses, of how hard it was going to locate the part on short notice, and just a lot of "what ifs", which was no help for our situation. Called Preferred plumbing & Drain...This turned out to be the best decision and answer to my serious situation. Within 30 min, they had 1 of their techs onsite to do a cursory inspection of what was happening and what would be needed to fix our problem... within 10 min the tech was on the fone to his home office with the details, and informed me that I would receive a fone call shortly from his service manager Herman. Let's just say Herman does his job very well, and was very detailed and informative and straight to the point...which is what I like in a stressful situation, Once he finished laying out the fix, he called me back in 30 minutes with the quote, which intailed, Backflow replacement, backflow testing, cage design and installation, all in 1 sweet package. I had my superior approve the work immediately, to which Preferred plumbing & Drain, dispatched, Anthony #74 and Fernando #16 to our property, which at this time it had started to rain heavily, which I would have understood if they wanted to wait out the rain, because Ive worked in many times, and do not like doing, did not deter them one bit from their mission...Yes they were in the rain handling business, no complaints, just dedication to us the customer, which me and my team greatly appreciated very much. And last but far from least, was Cynthia R., who was my first contact at Preferred plumbing & Drain, and was such a refreshing and calm professional, who answered all my questions and made me feel so much better about my situation and that there was a solution in sight, which was a huge relief for me and my team... Thankyou Cynthia! ....let me close with... Preferred plumbing & Drain are my new Plumbing company, for their quick response, professionalism, knowledge, thorough ness...what you want in a company, when in a stressful situation, and I'm personally impressed by the workmanship of the job they did for us, it's good to know that their are ppl that still take pride in their work. Scott J.353 days agoToday, Juan from Preferred Plumbing, came out to my home. When I ran water in the bathroom sink, I heard gurgling noises from the tub and then water backed up. Then the water in the toilet went down. Oh boy! Juan checked the back clean-out pipe and removed a big ol' nasty clump of roots and toilet paper near the top of the pipe! He cabled the sewer pipe also. Toilets were fixed. Tub was still not draining so he cabled that part and saw the clog. All pipes cleared and everything worked fine! Price was good. Alice D.718 days agoI want to thank Shafee from Preferred Plumbing, who saved me from living without hot water for 10 days. He arrived in less than an hour after I made the service request. Very professional and polite, he went above and beyond to help me and my daughter avoid struggling with cold showers. I had a faulty control valve on my water heater that was leaking gas, which needed replacement. PG&E had disconnected the gas due to unsafe conditions. The part was hard to find, and most stores only offered online preorders with a wait time of around 10 days. However, Shafee managed to locate it in just an hour. He installed it quickly, identified and addressed other potential hazards, and replaced the old gas valve and pipes. Despite it getting late, he stayed until everything was done and ensured the heater was safe and working properly. He thoroughly inspected for any other issues or leaks before leaving me feeling secure. Preferred Plumbing provides amazing service! We have had toilets overflow, sewage pipes back up, water heater pipe issues, etc. They have great management, good customer service, and excellent plumbers/technicians. Whenever there is an issue or concern, management is quick to rectify and they warranty their service. Their rates are definitely reasonable. Most recently, we had a water heater pipe leak. It was repaired, but did not seal properly. Rod, with Preferred Plumbing came out and redid the pipes efficiently and thoroughly and at no charge. He was great to work with. About 2 to 3 weeks ago he came and he had to do alot if work stop the leak from under the sink, tighten the faucet on the top and a few other things. We decided to see if what was done would work. Which it actually did just now just from the back of the faucet the leak was starting and after much decision and explaining to myself and husband we decided to replace the faucet. The price and labor was told from the beginning. Told what would be done. Plus I have to say Mr. Welch was very neat with his work and cleaned everything up. Preferred Plumbing sent Michael (Tech 34) over immediately and Michael did a great job fixing the issue. The leak was behind a dry wall in a cramped dark corner behind the water heater. But for some reason Michael knew exactly what needed to be done. After removing the leaking and corroded joint, he fabricated an 'L' on the spot in my garage and then proceeded to fix it properly and at the end I had running water again. So was George too who did the original evaluation. We had a galvanized pipe 200ft in length, from the 1960's, that feeds our home with fresh water from the water main, at the back of our property, spring a leak deep underground. Tony found the leak and replaced the bad pipe. The job was completed in 2 days and he did the entire job on his own. Very good communicator, hard working, and trustworthy. He spoke to my wife, who has no clue about the irrigation vs water system (intake/sewer) in our back yard and helped her understand what was going on and explained the process completely. We had a realistic estimate upfront and didn't pay more for the job. We had an update every few hours on progress and learned so much about our yard pipes. The reason I'm writing this review is because I feel that this is a good company. They aren't trying to elevate the cost of the job by making it larger than it is. The downside was that they didn't have anyone available until 9 at night due to their techs being extremely busy. Matt was friendly and upfront about the costs. He found the problem and was able to fix it that night. Matt took the the time to show and explain the problem to me. He made me feel confident in the work that he did to fix my plumbing issue. I had very limited time to find a plumbing company that could come out and make sure that my water heater was up to code by the time my condo was closing. I contacted Preferred Plumbing & Drain on a Tuesday and spoke with a gentleman named Josh, he said it would be no problem at all to get someone out to my condo the next day at 10am. Technician Herman showed up right on time on Wednesday and looked at the Inspection paperwork I had on what needed to be done to the water heater and was able to bring it up to code in just a couple of hours. G M.1847 days agoI came home Saturday evening to a leaking sprinkler pipe under a concrete walkway between my house and my pool where there really was not a lot of space to work. PP&D sent a plumber out first thing Sunday morning. Rod was great. He assessed and diagnosed the problem and recommended a solution. He then spent most of the day in plus 100 degree heat fixing the leak. I could tell it was a challenge but Rod was a professional and gentleman the whole time. He explained what he was doing and was super polite with us as we asked questions and discussed his work. He took care not to let debris get in my pool and to limit the mess from the work site and then pack up all his stuff when he was done. All the water from our garage and kitchen sink were overflowing into the tub Our first plumber told us we needed to replace the sewer pipe and it would cost over $15,000 dollars. We told him we needed a second opinion. We called preferred plumbing at 530 pm and they had Raymond technician #26 come at 9. Raymond called early and was on time and communicated exactly what the issue was. I asked if there were other issues he said nope and that he'll get to the bottom of it. I asked if he can check the other pipes and he showed me the residential packages they had. I went with package 2 (checked all the pipes in the house as well as cleaned and degreased) and it was well worth the money and piece of mind. Raymond worked diligently and thoroughly. He updated us when necessary and made sure all the pipes were clog free. Cannot say enough good things about Raymond and his honesty. Had break at the main line from our well to the house and had to shut down water at well and shut down pump. Called at 5 pm on Sunday evening. Had a return call in less the 15 minutes and a very professional serviceman here within the hour. Do to our pipes being an older style and size the parts needed were not stocked on his truck or anyone else's truck as he call all the other tech's to check. He told me what I could do temporarily myself to give emergency water and said he could get everything needed and be back first thing in the morning. I have heard that "first thing in the morning" story before but this man actually did come first thing this morning and had repair completed in about 30 minutes!!! Mabel M.2004 days agoHad an old Mansfield toilet that kept running and a garbage disposal all go out in the same week. Having a bathroom go out with full house with kids and a pregnant sister was stressful at first but these guys came through. I called/requested a quote on Yelp from half a dozen places and a few more that were listed in Napa but didn't travel to Vacaville. After juggling the responses I had a few people come by. Not one of them actually touched what was broken. All they said was it was an older model and it's cheaper to replace it. I mean sure they could've been right but at least go through the motion and see if it can be repaired. Honestly, I didn't get back to these guys ASAP but after the third guy tried to tell my sister that the landlord okayed a full repair and estimated a ridiculous amount, I called Preferred Plumbing right away. They're answering system was easy and friendly. They dispatched me to someone who sent someone over within 2hrs. I guess it was meant to be. Herman came on time, wore a mask, was professional, and thoroughly looked at both the toilet and the g/d. He was the only one that gave both an estimate of the rebuild and replacement. He also didn't press for unnecessary replacements like the cut off valve, which was still the old turn style knob. I broke down the estimates to my landlord and got the okay. Herman was back after a job he already had in the same day. Even after the quoted prices for parts agreed on, he still found a better option that happen to be on sale. The installation went accordingly and it feels like we didn't have a problem to begin with. I'm definitely keeping his contact info because it's difficult to find trusted contractors. Moya W.2102 days agoThe thought of planning in advance for a plumbing emergency never occurred to me, so when multiple drains in a bathroom started to gush forth sewage and we were in this emergency, at night, we frantically called around after Googling "emergency plumber." To be honest, we didn't choose Preferred Plumbing & Drain - they were just the first that got back to us. I don't even think we even asked the price. Thankfully we chose well. After a modest wait, Nic G (plumber #9) arrived and proceeded to check the drain outside (in the dark), and then came in - respectfully with mask on - and took pictures to document the crappy situation. Within 90 minutes, the block was freed, the pipe was rooted, and the issue was fixed and we were quite relieved. He even did some troubleshooting of a previously slow faucet. I don't know what I imagined late-night emergency plumbing would cost, but I was quite pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was. Best hundred-ish bucks we never wanted to have to spend. Craig W.2181 days agoLast week we had to call PG&E because we smelled gas in our kitchen. They came out and immediately shut off the gas to the house due to the severity of the leak under the cooktop. We were desperate and completely unprepared. We reached out to Mike at Preferred Plumbing & Drain. We sent Mike some photos of the area under our cooktop and provided some additional information. After asking some of his own questions, Mike laid out where the problems might be, explained the process of trying to isolate the leak and what corrective measures might be available. Mike could tell we were very concerned and in a bit of a bind with no gas to the house. He assured us they would help get this resolved as quickly and safely as possible. Mike said he would send us one of his top guys, Jorge, and he would be out first thing the next morning. Josh called to confirm when George would arrive. Jorge was on time, and very courteous and professional. He arrived wearing a mask and wore gloves the entire time he was here, which ended up being about a day and a half. Jorge was very patient and informative. He had to jackhammer down through the foundation under the cooktop. He actually made himself a "cave" made out of plastic which kept all the dust and debris off our granite countertops and hardwood floors. It was ingenious, but I'm sure also very, very hot during this weather. At every step Jorge gave us updates of what he was finding, or not finding, and what he was doing next or looking for. I also noticed Jorge kept in close contact with Mike as they discussed the investigation as it unfolded. We view this as excellent teamwork, and a dedication to doing the best job possible for us. The leak turned out to be further up the chain than we dared to expose and fix. We asked Mike his opinion to see what are options were. Mike explained what would be needed to expose the leak, fix it and then repair the area. Weighing the cost of the repair (exposure, fix, repairing) with capping the line in the attic and replacing our gas cooktop with an induction or electric one, we decided to cap the line. This was coming down to "dollars and cents" and we were thankful to have such a knowledgeable group of people to help us work through what was best for us. Jorge quickly capped the gas line in the attic and returned the area under the cooktop to its original state. He had taken great care to get the flooring of the island out, so when he was done you could barely tell anything had been disturbed. He cleaned the area, tested everything and provided us photos of the capped gas line in the attic for our reference. Mike called us to discuss how things went and to see if we had any questions. Again, he was patient and spoke in terms that were easy enough for us to understand. We raved about Jorge. Mike, too, is to be commended. It's rare to see this level of cooperation between the person in the field and the manager. And to have the level of care, professionalism and support we received from the entire team at Preferred Plumbing & Drain. If you need any plumbing help we couldn't recommend a better company. Took the poor plumber 8 hours in horrible heat to replace everything with a more modern setup. He worked very hard on a very hot day and got the job done. Paca I.2223 days agoHad a great experience with Matt, #32. Came home from a weekend out of town and had a backed up guest bathroom (toilet and bath) with about 1-2" of water on the floor. Same for the MBR. Matt came out and accessed the drain cleanout and put a snake down the pipe. He discovered a large root blocking the flow. He put another snake with a saw on it and cut out the root. It completely drained immediately. He told me to prevent future problems, go online and buy a $20 item that prevents roots from re-growing. I did that, which I just had to flush down the toilet. Easy as pie. He charged me $121. He was in and out in 30 minutes and was very personable. I was expecting to have to dig out the pipes and replace them to the tune of $5,000 - $8,000. I immediately recommended him to my wife for her business. Testing showed the presence of mold in our kitchen and I needed evidence of related water damage under the house to confirm. Michael Rivera (Tech17) showed up on day one to fix the problem areas and was thorough, professional and courteous. He spent a significant amount of time determining where the kitchen leak was and he did confirm the presence of water stains, consistent with the mold-tested area. On the second day, Michael and I had scheduled his arrival to be at 9am and by 9:30 I had not heard from him so I called. He said he was picking up some materials and would be over - about 45 minutes later than scheduled. The later time was not really an issue for me but I do think he should have called me prior to 9am to inform me of his delay (professional courtesy). Nevertheless, he was able to complete the bathroom fix in less time than he predicted and was again very courteous. Jerome C.2274 days agoOur problem started late on a Saturday night. Our toilet began gushing water from underneath and backing up into the shower when flushed. After spending most of Sunday morning and afternoon, trying to find a plumber to make a house call on the weekend, without forking over big $$$, seemed impossible. We were ready to give up and wait another day without use of the bathroom, when my wife found Preferred Plumbing and suggested we give them a call. I called and explained our situation to the very helpful and professional dispatcher(my apologies I forgot her name) and she said she could have someone over to see what the problem was within a few hours. I asked her how much the service call would be, and it was a 1/3 of what it would if cost elsewhere. I told her that was great and looked forward to hearing from the plumber. Within 20 minutes she called me back and said she actually had a technician in my area and would be there within the hour. After another 20 minutes, there was a knock at the door, we couldn't believe that they were that fast! Our service tech was Reggie, and after introducing himself and listening to me explain the problem, he quickly offered solutions! I was amazed at how thorough he was. He checked every apartment surrounding (mind you we live on the 3rd floor lol sorry chris) but he checked in to make sure he wasn't creating a mess in their sinks and nothing was getting clogged there. Not only did he check once in the beginning but AGAIN at the end just to be safe. He also had a great, genuine personality. When I was living at my previous residence, I had a slow draining issue with my shower that my lazy landlord didn't care to fix, so I needed to pay for this out of my own pocket. Thankfully I found this company. They were fast, used a HUGE snake to unclog the pipes, and he did not leave until my shower was flowing like normal. I was charged a very affordable rate, and I was more than satisfied. The original water heater is called State brand which was broken. This is the second time hired Preferred Plumbing to install water heater. The first water heater installed at our rental was Bradford White which is working fine over a year. It is good quality water heater. Second time, our home water heater was out of order and we called Preferred Plumbing to install the Bradford White water heater. After it was installed, we heard hammer sound in the master bedroom toilet, tub and sink, and later in the guest bath room. It was very annoying as this sound was loud that woke up in the middle of the night. We called the service man to fix the problems and yet it could not be fixed. We had this problem over three months and called the company again. Another experienced tech came out and checked the water main connected to our home. Yes, he did fix the problems. We satisfied their service. We will call them for future water heater service again. Connie K.3033 days agoI have used Preferred Plumbing on different occasions over the years for our and our kids needs and will continue to use them and refer them to my friends. They come out in a short period of time once my need was requested. They have even done work for me late up till 11:00 at night for we had no working toilets and other plumbers put me off. Their plumbers are courteous, respectful and go above and beyond my initial need to satisfy the customer. I have referred their company to my family located outside Sacramento county. I can depend on them to do it right the first time and it stays fixed, no repeat calls. I have other things for them to do. I have used them for garbage disposal replacement, toilets replaced, fixing toilets despite their age to last longer, checking my washer connection that was leaking into wall from prior owner and fixing it, Jacuzzi fix when water would only come out a few spouts and how to clean it, straighten my faucets and changing them in bathroom and shower, isolating a leak upstairs to be from older toilet not shower that other contractor thought was the problem , will use him again next week to change my kitchen faucet and reroute underneath house water main so it is easier to reach if water needs to be shut off immediately. Builder did a poor job. Too bad they don't do roofs, painting, remove wall paper, and other items on my honey do list for I would definitely use them in an instant without hesitation. Mark M.3161 days agoHad a shower issue where the water would not turn off so had to shut the water to the house off. Called them at 10am and they were out to the house by 1:30pm and fixed the issue which was a faulty cartridge. Total work time was about an hour and the charge for the work and the part was $265. Possibly a bit high since the labor charge normally runs about $145 per hour but I now have the water turned back on and can run my dishwasher and a load of laundry and the family can take a shower tonight without having to turn off and on the main water line. Debated whether to drop them to 3.5 stars since initially, the company said it would call me in 30 minutes but I had to call back at 11:00 to find out if they could come out today. Called Preferred the next day. They were very professional on the phone. I got a rate quote set up an appointment-_within two hours Brandon showed up. He was very professional and courteous. Took his time and got the job done...drain unplugged at about 25 feet into the pipe. They also have a 30 day warranty - no charge if the drain should plug up within that time frame. 4 stars instead of 5 because I was given different quotes from different people, and I was also told all of their people are plumbers...which they are not. They came out on time provided an estimate...during the job it was a couple glitches and the job too longer but he stayed until the job was complete and didn't go up on the price. I called after looking on the internet (they have an 800 number). I also had a mailer I had saved that came with a magnet. I have been using this company for about 15 years. It was Drain Patrol when i first used it. The staff have always been respectful and neat and if they are running late because the job before mine is running over a bit, they have called me. My latest service needed was for a leaking faucet and old lines under the sink. I called about 9:30am and spoke with Alison. She asked for all the needed information and said she would check the schedule and call back 10 minutes which she did. She let me know someone would arrive between 11am and noon. Brandon arrived at 11am. We discussed what needed attention and he took care of everything and answered all my questions and gave me the estimate. Once I okayed everything, he went out and chose a new faucet. He sent a picture of it to my cell so I could approve. He came back and installed it and the new lines. Anyone who has looked at my other reviews knows I rarely give 5 stars (I had a separate Yelp account for work which helps me keep track of the catering). The final cost was very reasonable for what was done (my friend wanted to know how it went and he said the price was good, too). I could not be more satisfied with the way things went with the repair. I never thought I'd ever want to put 5 stars for a contractor, but there you go! The first plumbing company that we contacted came out to do an estimate, but "no showed" on us twice for appointments to actually perform the work (wasting two days unnecessarily off from work). We then called a second company and were told that it would cost almost $4,000.00 to replace our water heater (more than three times as much as the original estimate we received). We then called Preferred Plumbing. Firstly, they quoted us essentially the same amount as the first company did. Secondly, our appointment to get the estimate as well as our appointment to have the work performed were both "after hours" (e.g.,in the evening)...meaning neither of us had to stay home from work to wait around. Brandon (#56) is who did both the estimate and the work. He was prompt, courteous, tidy, personable and got the job done as quickly as one could. He did not complain about the complications/hassle factors - of which there were many (having to go into the basement to do the job, the very steep stairs, low ceiling, having to empty the old tank in bucket-fulls, etc.).There is no extra charge for "after hour" estimates or service. The estimates are free whether you have them do the work or not. The office staff were courteous and efficient. We were called to be kept appraised of when the technician would arrive. Actually, we had a specific appointment time (versus a window of time) for the actual repair job. The entire experience was excellent. We subsequently had Brandon out to do another (unrelated) plumbing repair and once again, he was prompt, courteous, tidy and got the repair done quickly and effectively! We had absolutely nothing but positive experiences with this company. I do note that others have had less favorable experiences. They had to break the toilet to check if they were stuck up in there so I had to have them install a new toilet. (Well worth it, considering new denture would close approx. $2,500.00) I asked them to install an Eljer like the one she but they were not able to locate one locally so I asked them to install a name brand, good quality toilet similar to the one she had. They installed a Kohler, however it was much lower than the one she had and it did not have a self-closing toilet seat like to the she had. I spoke to a supervisor and he said they wanted us to be happy with it. They installed another toilet (Kohler also, but comfort height like she had) and a self closing toilet seat.
